Spring Brunch Dinner Party
A couple months ago I posted about my ‘Galentines’ Dinner Party, and now I’m excited to share the photos, decoration ideas, and menu from my ‘Spring Brunch’ Dinner Party! Which, I realize can be confusing, because Brunch and Dinner are at different times of the day, but it worked best for everyone to meet at night, but I still wanted to make brunch food. So it turned into brunch for dinner!
Like I said in my last post about mu dinner parties, they are definitely a lot of work and consume my life for a few days. But I love having something to plan and ‘dream’ about, and love the idea of being able to provide a nice night for Mom’s knowing full-well how badly we all need moments to feel a little extra pampered. Even if it is something as simple as Brunch for Dinner and a nice table setting! Keep scrolling for all the info on this delightful evening.
I, like so many millennials, spent a good amount of time scrolling on good ol’ Pinterest to find inspiration. I saw this mixture of citrus and flowers, and fell in love! It added some extra interest, texture, and color. I may not like grapefruit all the much, but WOW, did it make a beautiful tablescape! And although it wasn’t too fragrant, the combination of fresh flowers, eucalyptus, and citrus was divine.
I purchased the citrus and greenery at Traders Joe’s, which was a nice one-stop shop. The flowers ranged from $5-$3, and the citrus was less than a dollar each, so I ended getting away with paying less than $15 for the greenery and citrus. The table-runner was bought on clearance (Target.com always has some great options for that!). I love Opalhouse table runners, my last one was from there too.
This time I used a gift card I had and bought fabric Napkins and tablecloths from Amazon. I was surprised about how cheap they were! about $25 for 12 napkins and 2 tablecloths. I saved on the napkin rings and just bought this fun mustard Yellow (which I think could be my favorite color) ribbon. My mom just happened to be in town and was a huge help in letting me bounce ideas off of her and all the set-up. We spent WAY too much time the morning-of trying to get the napkins folded and ribbon tied just right. Ultimately it was such a small detail, but kind of fun to work out all the possibilities.
Unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures of the food set-up on the table , but I’m going to be honest, it was nothing special! Just a table with food set on it. I wanted to create a good mix between savory and sweet, since it’s always a toss-up which one is better for brunch! Here’s the menu and the links to everything that ended up being served:
First off, we had my recipe of Sweet Potato Quinoa Patties, and served the fried egg, bacon, and Jalapeno Lime Ranch on the side. To accommodate a Gluten and Dairy Allergy, I replaced the flour with almond meal/flour, and the Parmesan Cheese with Nutritional Yeast. Those substitutions are listed in the recipe as well. They’re definitely something a little different, but has a familiar flavor.
To make sure we got our veggies in, I made salad of Avocados, Fresh sweet Corn from the cob, sliced cherry tomatoes, Cilantro, and Cucumber. I tossed it in salt and pepper, Lime juice, and a little bit of Olive oil. It was simple, but added a ‘fresh’ element to it!
So this isn’t my photo, but I served these Bagel Bombs from The Baker Chick, which is a copycat recipe from Momofuku Milk Bar. I’ve been making these for years and they never disappoint- no fancy techniques required! They’re savory yet indulgent.
For the sweet elements, I had parfait station- I made yogurt from the Instant Pot (I love my Instant Pot Yogurt, it feels like magic every time I make it!), as well as my Almond Maple Granola, an assortment of berries, and some Agave Nectar to squeeze on top for a little extra sweetness if needed.
Then I made these Orange Crescent Rolls that I had created last week. in the recipe I said it makes 12, but I cut the pieces a little smaller this time and stretched it to 16 instead. They still worked great! I love that they’re just the right amount of sweetness.
For some extra sweetness to end the evening (and because what’s a girl’s night without Chocolate!), I made these Brownies by The Stay at Home Chef (this is also her picture, by the way!). I’ve been also making these for years and they’re a no-fail absolutely delicious recipe when I have a chocolate craving that only brownies can satisfy.
So there you have it! I hope this was all helpful to you in planning your next big or small Brunch… or dinner ;) If you have any questions let me know in the comments below, and don’t forget you can pin these photos and save them for later!
